Professionals that are struggling with creative tasks during their work hours
Find ways to boost your creative productivity during the day!
Taking breaks from work is scientifically proven to enhance your performance and creative skills as well as many other things. Breaks, though, as a concept are a bit vague and can be interpreted in many different ways - they can mean taking a coffee break, resting for the weekend or simply leaving a project for a bit and working on another one.
If we are speaking about how these impact your creativity we can say they give you time to incubate ideas, new perspectives and clarity.
We could give specific examples of every single type of rest but instead we want to focus on things you can do to help recharge your creative energy whilst at work:
Change tasks
There is a special kind of power when you switch tasks that increases your creative problem-solving and there are many studies that back this up. You can learn more about this study conducted by Harvard Business Review.
Go for a walk
Getting away from your work environment and walking for a while can be restoring and can be a fuel for creative thinking. You can also choose to set intentional walks so help you tackle the task at hand. Here are some examples: Connect, Learn, Gratitude, Explore, Walks. Also, some alone time is always good when you are filled with stimulation.
Have a coffee with a friend
Social interaction is critical for mental and physical health but also enhances your creativity by giving you a clear distraction. And you really don’t know when you might have a conversation that entirely changes your view on things…
(If these don’t work… you might want to consider a vacation - we will write more on this soon!)
On a final note, boosting your creativity is good and all but these activities will also help you increase productivity, make you focus better, lead to fewer mistakes and avoid burnout. At the end of the day, this all has to do with your brain - like any other muscle, it needs to rest to make it perform in the best possible way. So, remember to take breaks Triggers amigos :)
