Why it's more important than ever to have remote team reflection meetings

Why is reflection sessions important:
Studies show that we don’t take the time to reflect upon how we feel about team interactions or workflow unless there’s a specifically scheduled time for it. Studies also show that teams that have reflection sessions have better productivity and higher team engagement. Simple as that!

A step-by-step article on how to guide your creative team through a remote team reflection

At Triggers we realize the importance of streamlining the experience for team exercises and we’re here to help. We’ve put together a helpful how-to guide for our digital reflection cards, complete with a Miro template, to make your next remote team reflection as easy as possible!

A remote team reflection session will give your creative team:

  • Action points to move forward and handle ongoing issues

  • A forum for open discussion of current problems

  • A clear understanding of the different feelings in the team

  • An improved team communication

1. Getting started

Pick a facilitator that’s right for the group. Remember that emotions might get high and it’s important to have someone that has the trust of the group, remains calm and is a good mediator.

Take the time to ground yourself and go into the session with a good mindset. You are here to work out troubles in order to move forward together. Take a few deep breaths, listen to some favourite tunes and get into the zone.

2. Setting up the platform

The next part is easy:

  • Bring or buy our Reflection Cards: Team Deck or Remote Deck

  • Use the Miro template (use the password triggers to log in) to set up the remote workshop

  • Join the board together at the scheduled time!

This is a goal setting exercise. Take notes and document the process as well as the solutions to make the most out of the group reflection. Talk about how the reflection exercise felt and if you feel like it will help you in the future. Revisit the topic in a month or two to see if the problems are still there or if another solution is required.

There’s nothing wrong with friction in a team - it happens. Take time to build your team morale remotely. By addressing the issues and being honest with each other you’ll be one step ahead of both the problem and your competition.
